About the Founder

The Leader Behind Beyond the Uniforms™

Dee Baker is the Founder and Chief EmPOWERment Officer of Beyond the Uniforms™ LLC, an identity-centered leadership development company committed to assisting women in moving beyond roles, titles, uniforms, and expectations into leadership rooted in clarity, identity, and purpose.

A U.S. Air Force veteran and former federal leader, Dee has spent decades leading complex teams, navigated high-stakes environments, and served in systems where leadership required decisiveness, accountability, and resilience. While her professional background spans military service and federal leadership, her work today is shaped just as deeply by lived experience particularly the realities women face in leadership spaces where their voices are often overlooked or undervalued.

Dee’s leadership philosophy is grounded in a simple truth: leadership begins with identity. Titles may open doors, but clarity, alignment, and self-awareness determine how a leader shows up once inside the room. Her work focuses on helping women pause, reflect, and lead with intention from the inside out.

Through speaking, coaching, facilitation, and experiential leadership development, Dee creates space for women to strengthen confidence, reclaim voice, and expand leadership capacity without abandoning who they are. Her approach is reflective rather than prescriptive, grounded rather than performative, and centered on transformation rather than transition.

At the heart of Dee’s work is a belief in collective growth. Leadership is not about standing alone at the top it’s about creating pathways where others can rise as well. When one woman rises, we all rise.

The Beyond the Uniforms™ Approach

“How is working with Beyond the Uniforms™ different from every other leadership consultant?

Leadership Approach

Beyond the Uniforms™ is grounded in identity-centered leadership an approach that recognizes leadership does not begin with title, position, or authority, but with self-awareness, values, and lived experience. This work supports leaders who are navigating visibility, transition, and influence beyond the roles they have held.

Our approach is reflective, practical, and grounded in real-world leadership environments. Rather than prescribing one-size-fits-all solutions, we create space for leaders to examine how identity, experience, and decision-making intersect and how that intersection shapes how they lead.

She is also a recipient of the Institute for Global Understanding Award, honoring her contributions to leadership, global understanding, and community engagement.

Her work continues to shape leadership spaces by advancing identity- centered leadership, global understanding, and purpose-driven impact.

We believe effective leadership requires:

  • Clarity before action
  • Perspective before response
  • Ownership over permission

This approach enables leaders to move forward with confidence, discernment, and sustained impact without needing to perform, overexplain, or conform to outdated leadership models.

Women in service

Responsibilities

Who We Serve

Beyond the Uniforms™ serves women (particularly those) who have led within structured roles and systems who are navigating what leadership looks like beyond them.

This includes women who have worn visible uniforms such as military, federal service, public service, or corporate leadership roles as well as those who carry unseen uniforms, shaped by expectations, responsibility, caregiving, identity, or organizational culture.

Our work supports women who:

  • Have held responsibility, influence, or authority
  • Are navigating transition, visibility, or redefinition of leadership
  • Are ready to lead without relying solely on title, position, or permission
  • Seek clarity, confidence, and alignment in how they show up and lead

Beyond the Uniforms™ honors the discipline, experience, and strength developed through service while creating space for leaders to redefine who they are and how they lead beyond the roles that once defined them.

Our Philosophy

How This Work Comes to Life?

Beyond the Uniforms™ works with leaders through structured experiences that invite reflection, perspective-shifting, and intentional action. Engagements are designed to meet leaders where they are while challenging how they see themselves, their influence, and their leadership beyond formal roles.

This philosophy guides our work, prioritizing identity, clarity, and lived experience over scripts or formulas.

Whether delivered through workshops, leadership development programs, or keynote engagements, this work emphasizes:

  • Reflection that leads to clarity, not rumination
  • Dialogue that expands perspective rather than reinforces position
  • Practical application grounded in real leadership environments

Leaders are not given scripts or formulas. Instead, they are guided through processes that strengthen self-trust, decision-making, and leadership presence in moments that matter.
